Tackling Gang Violence

Sidekix Ltd. also works with a range of partners to deliver short programme (2 x 3 hour sessions) and longer term (10 x 3 hour sessions) programmes on tackling gang violence and knife crime. We use a blend of inputs from well-known sports personalities (Chic Charnley, Bobby Williamson), groupwork sessions and sports coaching sessions to engage with young people involved in gang violence and who are in danger of involvement in knife crime and all of its consequences. We believe that our approach is unique. Sidekix Ltd. has staff trained in the 'Be Safe - Tackling Knife Crime' Training Programme. We are the ONLY organisation in Scotland licensed to deliver this Home Office sponsored programme.

During 2008 Sidekix has delivered 9 Gang Violence workshops with 130 young people from across the North of Glasgow - Royston, Sighthill, Quarrywood, Maryhill, Springburn and Milton. Whilst it is too early to gauge fully the impact of the sessions, they have been well received by participants, with requests being made for follow up sessions. Further information on our programmes will be posted on this page in the near future. For further details on our Tackling Gang Violence and Knife Crime training programmes please contact Paul Kelly.
