Akon visits Operation Reclaim
"Stop Hatin, Start Participatin" was the call of the day when Sidekix captured the imagination of the young people from North Glasgow, as we brought world renowned RnB superstar Akon to Sighthill.
Akon’s visit was inspirational to all the young people involved in the event. Akon took time out of his tour to come along and meet the young people, talk to them about his career and life experiences, even joining them in a game of football. Akon spoke about the mistakes he had made in his past and how it is important for the young people of today to learn from their mistakes and give respect to their elders who are trying to help advise them on their future. He told them that, "you know in your heart what is right".
In addition to meeting the young people of Glasgow Akon was interested to see how operation reclaim set up, as he has formed a charity foundation "Konfidence", which will look to provide similar opportunities and chances to the young people in deprived areas of Africa. In relation to this, the Konfidence Foundation has hired Sidekix as key advisors to the charity.
